I am struggling with identifying genres of music I listen to. When I try to check it online, different sources claim different things. I think there should be something like a guideline or a decision tree for genres, the uncertainty really irritates me for no reason and why music is such "excursive" while all other forms of art are investigated under lots of different clear-cut categories? Enlighten me if I'm wrong.

when people listen too much of the same master genre lets say techno or metal, they start understanding what elements they like or hate, therefore subgenres. But when people become fascist on etiquitteering and gatekeeping genre integrity thats whats shitty imho. The electronic scene in my town is pretty elitist when it comes to that but it also sucks a lot and people that have no clue on it make better music than them
