In February 2025, Orange — a leading global telecommunications provider operating through Orange.com and Orange.ro — suffered a major breach after refusing to pay a ransom demanded by a threat actor under the name @Rey. The leaked data is mostly from the Orange Romania Division, but also includes files from multiple global divisions. The breach exposed over 600k customer records (including 380,000 unique email addresses) along with source codes, internal documents, invoices, contracts, projects, tickets, user data, employee information, and classified files outlining future project plans. Later on, the data was sent to a security researcher, and Orange confirmed the breach on February 24, with the data being leaked on February 25 on the popular hacking forum BreachForums.
